1) Don’t bring it in the house
When you enter your home after being in an area of high particulate contamination (mold, pollen, chemical). Take off contaminated clothing and shoes either before you enter your home (mudroom or garage). Or designate a sealable bin at your entryway to stash clothing and shoes.
2) Rinse it off
Shower every evening to remove any pollen and chemicals off of your body
3) Wear a mask while cleaning
Wear an N95 mask for outdoor chores and indoor chores with chemicals and dusting. Protect your nasal passages and do not re-use a mask after one day’s use.
4) Care for your furry friends
Make sure pets are well groomed & bathed regularly to cut down on excess dander.
5) Keep your air filters clean
Make sure you have the clean air filters and a balanced HVAC system. Improperly functioning window units and HVAC will cause a buildup in airborne mold and dust particles.
6) Get an air purifier
Invest in the best possible air quality purifier. Use one with a true HEPA filter to capture the maximum amount allergy triggering dust and chemical particles. I suggest the RIPA (Rowenta Intense Pure Air) because it captures 99.97% of airborne particles and is the only one that will protect my family from cancer causing formaldehyde, by not only trapping it, but destroying it.
